I have a quick question. As a permanent resident, when calculating the residency days required for citizenship, do short trips abroad such as a few weeks of travel several times a year still count as days in Canada? And does it make any difference if my spouse is Canadian?

No, it's physical days in Canada only.

Days with spouse - only in very limited cases (eg IIRC if spouse is a diplomat on a posting abroad).
