Hi All,
I received COPR for my son (2 years old) and I am trying to schedule an appointment with IRCC , but they say they will respond within 30 days. My son is on TRV and arrived in Canada on 4th July. So technically his 6 months visiting period will end on 4th Jan. Expiry date on visa is 10/12/2023.
I live in Kitchener. Can somebody please suggest how do I proceed with the landing process.

It takes a long time. Don't worry too much about the validity of his status expiring if you have a COPR.

You could theoretically go to the US border and flagpole.

Does the sponsor also gets questioned when we do flagpoling for his residency obligation.

I don't recall, but I believe the sponsor needs to be there. Part of the landing appointment is confirming the family relationship, etc. Especially if the child is 2 years old, the sponsor should really be there.

If you are flag-poling, you are seeking entry to Canada and your compliance with the RO can be examined.

Your sponsorship app should not have been approved. Someone screwed up in processing your app. I honestly can't say what would happen if you try to flagpole or if you try to land at an IRCC office and your failure to meet the RO is realized.

Thank you for your response. The only reason why I want to flagpole is because my son’s TRV 6 month period ends on 4th Jan. Should I apply for extending his visa or is COPR considered valid status.

A COPR does not grant status.

He's not got valid status after his six months expires until he lands. You don't either. But IRCC and CBSA are unlikely to take action on a two year old with COPR.
