I have submitted my medicals last March 2020 and obtained my TRV (worker) on October 2020.
However, due to covid, my travel plans were delayed. I was originally scheduled to fly to Canada this May 2021, but received letter from IRCC stating I am not allowed to travel until I retake my medicals.

I have already done my medical last Apr 22 and submitted it via GCKey already.

How soon should I expect to hear from IRCC? Is anyone else in a similar situation?

Hi k.h.p.,

Yes, I received the letter before submitting new medicals. More specifically:

Mar 2020: First medicals
Mar 2021: Medical expired
Mar 2021: Pre-emptively took upfront medical exam
Apr 22, 2021: Received letter from IRCC
Apr 23, 2021: Submitted new medicals

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this. I was under the impression that I could take a new upfront medical AND present it to the border officer in Canada. I did not expect to receive a letter from IRCC explicitly saying I cannot travel unless I retake AND they approve my new medicals.

Any idea how long they take to assess newly submitted medicals?

No, IRCC has to review the medicals to make sure they don't indicate anything. Border officers are not qualified to review physician's reports.

April 23 to now is a weekend. You're going to need to continue to wait.

Agreed.

I am just wondering how long it usually takes for IRCC to process these types of remedicals. I have unfortunately already booked my flights/reservation before I received their letter, and I now cannot plan accordingly without knowing how long it would take for IRCC to process this.

In your opinion, would something like this take months to complete?
