Request of documents information

Does anyone know a rough timeline it takes for CIC to look at your documents submitted.
We were requested documents today and we sent them
Will they review same day? or will this postpone for quite some time?

it really depends on the visa officer handling your file, so there is no real consistency. some visa officers will review the documents when received and some will wait until the "due date" listed on the request has passed. so hope for the best, and don't be disappointed if nothing happens until that due date.

there was no due date anywhere I looked for that because I had seem some people mention that so I thought maybe this was different

they did not include a timeline for how long you had to send the requested information? it's odd a specific amount of days to comply with the request was not listed anywhere in the letter. it's not a specific date, it's a specific number of days. "please respond within x number of days" type of language - it's usually 30, 60 or 90 days... can you post the letter without the personal info?

ok, so first this suggests you haven't gotten SA yet. your timeline under your name suggests you received an AOR? Are you assuming that's what this is or did you receive another letter that says your application was received and considered complete? As an FYI, this letter is NOT your AOR, it is simply a document request. if you did not receive another letter, then once they receive the missing paperwork, your AOR will come next, followed by the sponsor approval letter.

Again, it's odd they don't put a time line for when you must send the requested documents by, so i don't have much advice to give except hope they start processing it as soon as those documents are received.

The marriage License according the county that we were married IS the marriage certificate. So I wrote that in explanation and then attached the birth certificate. I'm positive the app said certificate OR passport. but what can ya do.

i'm pretty sure for the applicant, it's both the birth certificate AND passport (though i'm not sure what the form says - i'm going by memory of what i submitted).

did you get married in canada? generally, i *think* they want the long form, not the short form certificate. that can be the issue. if you were married in the us, the certificate and license can be one in the same. i believe ours from CT had "certificate and license" listed on the document. if that's the case, an explanation should be ok...fingers crossed!

no we got married in galveston texas and according to the county when I called the marriage license with the signed and sealed stamp is the marriage certificate. so im hoping the explanation is enough to suffice.

That's correct. It's listed under civil identity documents, passport is listed further down.

Yeah I'm a dummy but thankful they requested the documents and didn't send everything back
