I think that's probably why they're asking for the divorce cert. So, by any chance can you prove he's Canadian? (Photocopy of birth certificate, passport? Passport number?) Also provide his current address/contact information (again).

An affidavit is a sworn statement, which means yes, it must be legalized (notarized) - signature must be witnessed by a notary/commissioner of oaths... But if you can provide proof of his Canadian citizenship, I think the issue will go away...

Perfect. I will see if he will co operate. But he may not, as he is kind of a jerk, lol. BUT I think I can get his mother (Who still lives in my town) to get me a copy of his birth certificate.

So, I replied to the email and stated that I am not divorced, but I was wondering how long it takes for them to reply to emails like this. Has anyone else had a request for further documents that they couldn't provide? If so, what did you do and how long did it take them to respond?? Doesn't need to be in regards to divorce certificates, I'm just curious as to a time line.
