We will be submitting a Permanent Residency application for my wife shortly.

Inasmuch as it is said to take about a year for (hoped for) approval , can my

Wife replace her (not expired) passport during this year of waiting?

If so, does she need to get permission from immigration Canada or to fill out some form in advance of or after applying for

A new passport? How and when does she submit the new passport information to Immigration Canada?

I think she probably should wait until after the biometrics as well as the medical test , in case her passport

Is required for either, for identification purposes. That consideration aside, is there any part of the

Year period that it is not advised to replace the passport . (In my wife’s country it takes up to two months

To get a new passport. We also have to be careful when we do the replacing, in case she needs to take

Her mother to a hospital in a neighboring country).

Thank you
