Renewing OWP after expiration

Hi.I Need some Help. thanks in advance... I am on OWP and my wife just finished school and applied for her PGWP.... My OWP expires on the 6th of September 2020.. but My wife will be getting the 3 pay stubs needed for me to extend my OWP around 4 weeks after it expires... should I request a change of status, or does the grace period that the government provided because of covid means i can just wait and apply???

You need to apply to change your status to visitor before your OWP expires and stop working once it does, until you get your new permit.

Thanks for your response.. based on your answer it would sound like I wouldn't be in implied status and able to work after I send in my application... I would have to wait until I get my work permit in hand?

I'd advice to apply for the extension before your current WP expires with a LOE to explain you'll get the pay stubs later and upload them through webform once you have them, so you don't lose your status. Inland WP applications are taking a long time anyway. Not a good idea to change to visitor.
