Hi

My PR card was expired on July 2013, but as I had not met 2 years residency in CANADA at that time, I wasn't able to apply for PR renewal.

In January 2015 when I meet the requirement (2 years in 5 years) I sent my application with travel document to process urgently.

Now, after almost 2.5 month it is still in process and they told me over the phone that my application is with review team right now.

What does that mean? I know when I apply in January 2015 they will check the records for the past 5 years which is January 2010, but the only issue which I worry about is that I sponsored for my wife when I get married in 2011 and they have my entry records from 2008 - 2011 and they can find that I was in Canad for only 1 year from 2008-2013. does that effect on my PR application or not? What kind of issue I might have in future?

Please adviseHi

Hi

It's pretty standard for CIC to conduct a more through investigation when someone has just barely met the 2 year requirement and their PR card expired awhile ago.

The sponsorship of your wife will have no effect. As long as you definitely had the 2 years when you applied and the proof to back it up, there will be no issue with the renewal.
