Remote US Work and Study Permit

Hi all,

I’m currently applying for a study permit in Canada (two year degree) as a US citizen. I recently was hired as a remote contractor with an org here in California, and it pays well so I’m hoping to maintain it in Canada. I have a few questions about this:
  1. Do I need an extra permit in order to continue working with this organization once I relocate? They already know about my move but don’t know the answer to this.
  2. How/where do I pay taxes for this work if allowed?
  3. If I need an extra permit and while applying for my study permit I include my letter of employment (which I am starting work for on July 6) will it look bad if I haven’t yet started applying for the necessary permit as well? Basically, I’m wondering if it will hurt my chances to include a job that is brand new (making it obvious I plan to continue working for them in Canada)
Thanks for any info!

Does the company do any business in Canada / have any Canadian customers?

no, they’re a not for profit organization funding grants for those in need in the US only.
Then nothing additional is required in terms of a permit for Canada.

For taxes, you will need to file in both Canada and the U.S. declaring your worldwide income.
