Hey all, I've got a question regarding giving up PR. My dad is applying for an eTA and has sent in an application and now they are asking for a "Relinquish PR status IMM5539"

My dad currently has PR, however, he no longer meets A28 (has not stayed enough in Canada within a 5 year period). He wishes to relinquish his PR status and apply for an eTA to visit us in the future as a foreigner and then apply for PR once he retires and can meet A28 requirements.

I looked up IMM5539B form but it looks like its been discontinued? I can't find the form at all, instead i found: IMM5782E, application to voluntary renounce permanent resident status.

When he applied for eTA, it gave us 2 options, 1 was to apply for PR renewal and have an officer determine that he didn't meet residency requirement and give us PR that way, the other way was to voluntarily relinquish PR. Is this the right way to proceed? Using IMM5782E?

Thanks for your help.
