hi Folks,

if someone has a brother in canada, can the brother who is applying submit their birth certificates and the brother living in canada can submit their passport copy as proof as it lists parents Name ?

another question is, the brother who is applying has fathers name listed with a middle name but the bother in canada had not listed the optional middle name in fathers name.
mothers name is however same.

can someone advise on these points?

thanks,

Best would be if he (the one in Canada) also shows his birth certificate. But perhaps passport copy might also work. Not sure about that.

Middle name difference is not serious in my opinion though.

1. CIC doesn't accept passports as proof of relationship.
2. You are going to require your birth certificate and your brother's birth certificate. Note you also have to prove that he is living in Canada.

hi PMM,

thanks a lot for the input!

quick questions:

1) Canada resident brother can get a certificate of birth from Indian Embassy, will this suffice? they basically take the input from Passport but at least they certify officially in a letter head of indian embassy.
Should we attach an affidavit as well ?

2) Canada resident brothers documents and passport etc, dont have fathers middle name in them however moms name matches and fathers first and last name are identical, will this be acceptable ?
i realize this is not ideal but middle name was optional and somehow the canadian resident brother did not use it in his official docs and now it will be difficult to include this in all the docs, plus during his residency application he has listed fathers name wihtout middle name itself so not sure how we can change all that now.
Should we attach letter of explanation?

proof of Living in canada is not a problem,we have proof of that.

Please let me know on above 2 points or if you have any other suggestions / recommednations.

1. No, because they will base it on his passport, if he doesn't have a BC, a copy of his 10th with the parents names will work. No affidavit required.
2. Middle doesn't matter much.

Hi All. I will also be showing relative in Canada. The relative is my spouse's maternal uncle (mother's younger brother). Neither mother nor brother have Birth Certificate and the only linking document is Passport which shows father's name same for both of them. I hope this will be good. Thank you in advance for any comment/suggestion.

Hi PMM. Thank you for your reply. Uncle sent declaration attested before an attorney confirming the relation. Hope this helps along with the passport.
