8 gpa out of ten pursuing final year be electronics and communications engineering anna univ
ielts 6.5 with no band less than 6
2 international conference papers,2 national level papers,2 international project expo participation
45 days project at bel

applied to ubc,uow,mcmaster,calgary
got rejected from mac and since i ve got rejected here lots of chances to be rejected from ubc and uow and calgary might reject for ielts

dont loose hope even if you did get rejection dont loose hope, try again and make your file impressively, and do not at any cost apply through a consultant in a university. best of luck and remeber in prayers

Don't loose hope brother......wait for result from other ones .....even if nothing goes well this time ..then try for Jan intake 2014 and apply to mid level universities ...although ur profile is quite good and even suitable for most of the top universities.......but we can't predict anything.....luck also matters.....all the best...

Though your IELTS is not really that good, but you did meet the requirement of UBC

It's surprising why they rejected your file. Did you check with them on what grounds they have denied you LOA. and yes, with most of the Uni, ideally the bands required are 7.0 and in fact it's always good to have more score than just meeting the eligibility criteria.

Any backlogs?

am his friend.. actually we applied through consultancy and he wanted to apply to Okanagan campus but those ppl applied to vancouver campus so his chances drastically narrowed. and he's got no backlogs.... besides i heard the percentage cutoff for UBC is high

Well as said earlier, only challenge i see is of IELTS. He scored 8 out of 10 GPA which is not bad. Well, you should check with Uni why they rejected his LOA so that you can be prepared for next application in another Uni.

Indeed, He needs to work on IELTS coz that really doesn't impress at all. for Universities, they expect at least 7 bands with no band less than 6.5. SO I would suggest, rather than trying with more Unis and wasting time, it's better to re-appear in IELTS which is going to be cost effective comparing IELTS fee of 9k to 100CAD to 200CAD uni application fee.

don't they even tell the reason for rejection........I think they ll send me the same mail and tell that cause of competition they rejected
