My boyfriend and I, we are not Canadian and we are working here with an LMO, somebody now how we can register us as common in law??

The next year we want apply for a student visa for myself, so we want that my boyfriend can get an open work permit but we don't know what we have to do for register that we are a couple and we don't know if we can do it online or we should go somewhere!!

Which prove we need and for how long we need to prove that we are living together??

Thanks!

You can complete the statutory declaration of common-law form: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5409E.pdf
Also if hold a SIN you need to update CRA when your status changes from single to common-law.

To be common-law you must have lived together for 12 continuous months. Typical proofs of this are a shared lease/rental/ownership agreement, mail in both names delivered to the address, shared bank or other accounts, etc.

Hello. I've been in common law relationship for 1.5 years, living together for 1 year now. We have never signed statuary declaration. Can you please advise whether 1 year of common law relationship starts from the day we started living together or from the day we sign statuary declaration?

It starts 365 days after the day you moved in together and lived in a "marriage-like relationship."

It does NOT start on the day that you started living together. It starts on the 366th day of living together. That is the date that you `entered into' your Common-law relationship.

Thank you for your response. Sorry, I'm new to this, Just make it clear for myself, December 5, 2015 was exactly one year since we started living together. Are we eligible to send our application now? Or we still need to wait 1 more year till December 5, 2016?

If you started living together Dec 5, 2014, then you became common-law on Dec 5, 2015. So yes, you now qualify to be sponsored under family class. Hopefully you have lots of proof of your cohabitation.

Just make sure you and your partner change your tax status with CRA from single to common-law, and file your 2015 taxes as common-law.

Thank you, for the clarification. Yes, we will file taxes as common-law, and after that we will apply for PR (outland). We also got a pre-approved for mortgage together, however on papers it says that my partner in title of 99% and me 1% as I'm just on work permit now. I hope it won't be a problem when we submit this document as a supporting document to prove our relationship.

I believe the OP is wanting to apply for an OWP for their partner. Since neither one is a Canadian citizen or PR, they can't apply for sponsorship.
I'm currently on PGWP, we will apply outland before my PGWP expires. My partner is a Canadian citizen.

I removed my post, since I thought that Rob_TO was responding to the OP that started this thread.
