Registration of Regulated occupations

Hello everyone,

I am a Mechanical Engineer & a Project Manager. I was just going through the likely job opportunities for my profile in Canada. I have seen some companies asking for a P.Engg to be eligible to apply for a job. Some companies are not asking anything like that for a similar job.

I request some seniors to throw some light on this. Is it compulsory to get registered as a P.Engg before we can work there or is it company specific??!!

It seems there is a very long process to get this P.Engg and if it is mandatory then we all shall need to go well prepared with all trancripts/certificates stuff....

I'm mechanical engineer as you. I'm right now in Calgary and in my experience its difficult to get the Peng credentials (one guy with years of experience in oil and gas, good knowledge spent 2 years in the process). Its a monopoly for Canadians. They can regulate the people and maintain their jobs. Its no impossible but difficult.
