Hello,

I am an RN in the US with 4 years of Critical Care experience. I am looking to attain Permanent Residency but am unsure what actions to take in regards to my license. I see that RNs are eligible for Federal Skilled Workers program. Will I need to transfer my license to my Province of choice (BC), prior to applying for Federal Skilled Workers or does that come after?

My husband is also Canadian and we were potentially thinking of him sponsoring me for residency.

Thank you for your time.

Easier and likely faster for your spouse to sponsor you. You’ll need to show proof you’ll be relocating to Canada. I would contact the nursing licensing board of the province you want to work in to ensure you can work right away. I would also include your correspondence as part of the proof that you will be relocating to Canada. You can add the proof of intent to relocate during the processing.
