My study permit application was refused for two reasons:
1. VO is not satisfied that I "have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to maintain [myself] and any family members who are accompanying [me] during [my] proposed period of study"
2. Not satisfied that I "have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the costs of
transporting [myself] and any family members who are accompanying [me] to and from Canada."
3. "You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay. In reaching this
decision, I considered several factors, including: travel history, immigration status in country of residence, family ties in Canada and country of residence, purpose of visit, personal assets and financial status"
I have been accepted into a university in Canada with a full tuition scholarship that also pays a portion of my living expenses. I am of Syrian nationality and residing in Malaysia as a dependent under my parent's work visa here in Malaysia. The dependent visa did expire a few days ago and we are renewing it, might it's expiration this year have been a red flag for the VO?
After my studies I plan to come back to Malaysia (I even don't have a problem returning to Syria).
In my application I attached a lot of information regarding the funds available for my stay including bank statements, father's pay slips, receipts of high-school tuition payments (15,000 CAD annually which is more than what I need in Canada). I require 13,500 CAD to pay my living expenses and accommodation for one year in Canada. In order to resolve the first 2 financial problems of my visa, I will be paying my expenses in Canada in advance before applying a second time.
However, I'm greatly worried regarding the 3rd problem the VO is concerned about; Leaving Canada after my stay. I have no intention of overstaying in Canada. I don't understand most of the reasons he points out:
Should I go back and reapply from Syria? That definitely would be a great inconvenience and I don't know how that would reflect on my application.
Happy to answer any questions, please to inform me of any experiences similar to mine! I want to reapply, but I want to do everything correctly this time as I'm already late to university.

However, I'm greatly worried regarding the 3rd problem the VO is concerned about; Leaving Canada after my stay. I have no intention of overstaying in Canada. I don't understand most of the reasons he points out:
- a) travel history: The only travel history I've presented is traveling from Syria to Malaysia 4 years ago.
- b) Immigration status in country of residence: Currently I'm a dependent in Malaysia and I can enter it any time I want with a tourist visa for 3 months. This means that after my visa finishes in Canada, I can come back to Malaysia.
- c) Family Ties: I don't have any family in Canada. My mother and sister live in Malaysia, that means I have family ties in Malaysia (shouldn't this support the fact that I will leave Canada after my studies?)
- d) Purpose of visit: No clue what my purpose of studying in Canada has to do with overstaying.
- e) Personal Assets and Financial Status: Again, I've provided a lot of documents to show the availability of 13,500 CAD to maintain myself there (and more). If the current financial documents are not enough to show that I have the funds to return to Malaysia (or Syria) after my studies, how else can I prove that I have the funds to do so?
Should I go back and reapply from Syria? That definitely would be a great inconvenience and I don't know how that would reflect on my application.
