In our case, ADVO requested originals of wedding cards, etc (not sure why) so we sent them....and I have sent NUMEROUS case specific enquiries asking for them to be returned with no luck. Thankfully I didn't send our wedding guest book (i didn't care what they said)...
One of the challenges we had is they never had our addresses correct in ECAS...I tried so many times to update it with them....it could be that they sent our docs to our old place and we aren't in touch with them...
But in your case, your original documents are likely more important than wedding cards...
You could contact your MP and ask that they enquire about getting the original documents back.
