Hello, I'm currently an international student in the US. I'm from Kuwait and after graduating I'm going back to kuwait to work for a year to make money, then move to canada with a visitor visa then apply as a refugee there. My reason is that in Kuwait, it's illegal to be gay and they'd throw you in jail and you're socially unaccepted, and as a gay person I feel endangered. Also because I'm Atheist and everyone in Kuwait is Muslim and also, as an Atheist you're socially unaccepted.

Now, my questions are:
1-Do you think that's a reasonable excuse and should I expect an easy acceptance?

2-While I'm in Canada with my visitor visa waiting for my Refugee Application decision, can I get a job even though I'm still not a citizen? (I'll be carrying a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics)

3-What documents do they require for me to apply for refugee?

4-How long does it take for them to make their decision?

That's all, thank you in advance. It really means a lot to me

1. Not a chance, you didn't claim refugee status in the US, you re availed to the country that you are claiming refugee status against. CIC is not going to issue you a TRV so you can go to Canada and claim refugee status.

Buddy there are more gays in Kuwait than some of the small cities in Canada. Here are some places you can visit, in Salmiya area you'll feel totally at home

Belajat street - beach
Starbucks behind the catholic church in the Kuwait City
Hang-out Cafe at Gallery 2000 - Salmiya Area
Second Cup cafe & Supreme cafe at the Bustan mall

Its wrong to say "everyone" in Kuwait is Muslim, Kuwait has a large expatriate community and there are people of all religious backgrounds Christians, Hindus, Buddhist, Sikhs, atheist etc

So basically your excuse of being gay and atheist is not going to fly with immigration, you have to come up with a better one. Good luck trying though

I don't understan why you don't ask refugee status in the US if you really fear for your life? Also you have until a year to make a claim in the states after that it's too late to make a claim.

You can probably get a tourist visa but Canada it's not going to give you a visa just so you can apply for refugee status. And if you do come to Canada the officer it's going to ask you why you didn't ask for refugee status in the US. Unless something happened in Kuwait that you fear for your life but you have to have evidence.

I applied for refugee status and I hope I'm able to stay in this great country.
