It been 5 years that have finish from high school I don’t know what to do because have went for my hearing but I ended up having an appeal and it hasn’t been sorted because I read online that it takes 6months to 1 yr before its get sorted and that makes 6 yrs .I want the refugee board to look into this being home for 6 yrs is not a day job whenever I remember the day I left my high school hoping, thinking and looking forward to when am gonna be done in university makes me feel bad and wipe a lot because of the wasted yrs please all I need for the government is just to give me chance and prove that I would be an excellent student and I would make them proud being at home and not going to school for six years is not a joke.
It’s different when you are willing not to go to school and also when you want to go but you are not opportune, my case is am willing but am not opportune and I hope that I will be there and I want to be there
AM PLEADING TO THE GOVERNMENT!!!!!

Not sure if you have actually been in Canada for 6 yeRs but nobody was forcing you to stay home. Canada gives you a work permit to work. You can also go to language classes. You can try to get a study permit but you’ll have to pay international feels due to your lack of status. I don’t think there will be any changes when it comes to asylum seekers at college/university. Asylum seekers can’t access student loans (too risky) so many would not be able to afford post second set education. Also many receive negative decision so there is a change their schooling will. E interrupted. Best thing is to work hard and save. If you get protected person status you will have some savings to support you in your dream to study.

None of us here work for the government or IRCC. We are all normal people like you.

To the best of my knowledge you are allowed to go to school - however you must obtain a study permit and pay international student fees.

Just apply for a study permit. Many international students are also legible for scholarships, and many colleges in the GTA offer them. Apply to your school of choice, get accepted, and get your study permit. From there tackle the financial part, and apply for whatever scholarships you're legible for, you don't need to only depend on OSAP (which hopefully you'll access if you become a convention refugee, your tuition will decrease too!)
You can even do as little credits/classes as possible for now to make it cheaper until you can afford it. Education is a gateway to limitless opportunities, don't let negative people put you down, and get after it!
If you head to your community centre or IRCC supported programs there are many programs that offer free education in certain disciplines, and improve your skills to find employment!

Unfortunately getting an student permit as an asylum seeker is difficult because one of the things you have to prove is your ties to your home country and that you will return home. It is also quite rare to get a scholarship as an international students. Partial or full funding is often limited advanced degrees like PhDs and some masters. If you have been accepted and have proof of how you can fund your education there is nothing stopping you from trying to get a study permit. We have seen many get refused but a few that have gotten approved.
