Refugee Appeal Denied. Need to Renew Passport which is in CBSA custody for Visa to Australia. How?

Hello,
Its a very tricky situation. My refugee appeal to RAD was denied. An Australian employer wants to sponsor me for Skilled Immigration. Australian embassy requires passport be valid for at least 6 months when they issue the visa. CBSA has my passport and it expires in 5 months. How can I get it renewed while it is in CBSA custody?

Please help.

If you need your passport back, the only way to do that is to contact CBSA and tell them you are ready to leave Canada and make arrangements to fly home. Your passport will be returned to you as your are leaving the country.
