Gents,

Is it necessary to have the reference / experience letter signed by the HR personnel only? As i understand from the following link it could be done by the immediate supervisor as well?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp

My HR is a pain in the ass and is unlikely they would sign any experience letter as long as i am working.

Plus, who should it be addressed to?

No need to be signed by HR, can be your supervisor.
You can address it to: To whom it may concern

Thanks chente. Can it be addressed to Citizenship & Immigration Canada? Do they have an address? or To whom it may concern will be good enough?

Citizenship & Immigration Canada, To whom it may concern, Dear Officer, Dear Batman... it doesn't matter.

Immediate supervisor is preferred.

All, just found out that if the letter is signed by my Manager it should be on a blank paper, notarized and submitted along with LOE.

I can have it printed on the letter head and signed by my manager. do i still need LOE and Notary?

Hi Ladies and Gents

I am about to start my canadian journey.

Let me breakdown my inquiry.

1. I am married, looking to take IELTS but my expired passport bears my maiden name, Can I renew my passport with my maiden name and go ahead with booking the test, the immigration officer told me it will take a long time to get a name change for my new passport plus the other hurdles i have to jump.

2. I have been working for my dad for over 3 years, but the company closed last year due to his health challenges.
Can his lawyer write me a letter of reference and have it notarized since my Dad was my boss.

Thanks! Supervisor it is.

Having it from supervisor is much better than the HR.

IMO supervisor gives a better feedback if at all there is a call than the HR
