I am currently working in Big4 audit firms. And my firms policy is not to issues any kind of reference letter to current employees. I am also planning to attach an explanation letter alongwith other support like, employment contract, promotion letters, and current salary certificate. Will this help. Any comments from the seniors???

hey emmo,
i too have the same prob,so wht other seniors have suggested is tht,u can get ur roles and responsibilities on a stamp paper and make it as an affidivit.it MAY help.try getting an email or letter from ur firm as to why they cant give u a ref letter and send it along with all ur other docs, salary slips, spot awards etc.

Well I also had the same problem. I cannot disclose my current company about my immigration application.

What I did was very simple and exactly according to what they have said in their guidance notes.

I attached
1) notorised copy of contract
2) notorised copy of one Promotion letter
3) an explanation letter signed by myself and addressig to the canadian visa office. this letter stated the reason why i was unable to get the reference letter from my current employer.

thanx; will wait for your feedback

Do you mind sharing the reason. Did you state that you dont want to disclose to you current employer?

Yes you can mention it that its your company policy not to disclose details and CHC is aware of certain companies with policies. Send a letter explaining the details.

Thanks rocky272727 Will do that. becz it is really impossible to get such letter from my firm

one of my former employers was a big 4 audit firm

instead of speaking to a partner, i spoke to a senior manager (who was a friend of mine) and got the letter off him, because he didn't give a sh*t about their official policy

i would try to do something similar. get a letter off someone who is in a higher position than you, but not a partner

Yes that is also one of the option. But unfortunately in my case i dont have any close ties with my seniors. They will immediltely inform higher management about my immi program

A question:

If experience letter is only a summary of responsibilies and duties - do you think this will present a problem?
For example
in the Schedule 3 we list detail duties for Project Manager (8 duties)
in the employment expreience letter it list Project Manager but the responsbilities are somewhat broad and not as details, but it includes the project name

Because normally the experience letter will not have the very details list of duties and if the manager is no longer employed, that will present bigger problem..
what do you think guys?

Yes I have stated that I could not disclose this to current employer due to loss of job and/or progression of my career. But I'm not sure whether this will work or not as I am yet to receive a response from them.

the application kit clearly mentions that if we do not submit reference letter ,we can provide a letter explaining the reason..
also as mentioned by maccy, please make sure that the employment contract is notarised,
and yes additional proof like salary slips would be helpful in this case
