Hello everyone

To my knowledge medical exams are good for one year ( Correct me if I'm wrong ). Mine were done back in December ... and seeing as December is coming up and I'm no where near completion. I want to redo them before I get asked to do so by my VO ( To avoid the possible 1-2 month delay )
Can some one shed some light as to how I can do it, I don't really remember the 1st time I did it ( alot on my mind lately ).
My Info
Me: Canadian Sponsor
Wife: Iraqi Applicant who lives in Iraq, currently application is in Amman Jordan.

Thank you in advance for any info provided.

Probably the delay is due to background check.
My opinion is that no need to re-do medical unless required by visa office.

Hi Cknd,

There is a lot of debate about this topic and people's views differ extremely. For what it is worth here is mine. You should really wait for your VO to contact regarding a new medical for a few reasons.

1) You VO may be able to apply an extension if your medical was done in the last 15 months at the VO's discretion (and the extension can be up to an extra year) Obviously thus saving money.

2) A Panel Physician as they are now known (formerly dedicated medical practitioner) may not carry out a 2nd examination without the express consent from your VO. I believe what happens is the VO will send you a sealed envelope that you take to your PP to carry out your 2nd medical. Some PP's wont entertain another medical without this.

3) I have heard stories of people just doing a 2nd medical and once completed the VO having issues matching it to your file and complicating it. I have also heard stories where it is quite ok, but who knows?

For those reasons I think personally you should wait for an instruction from your VO but I am sure others may say to do them and avoid a delay but I also have heard that just redoing them can result in just as long a delay as a medical extension request.

This is CIC and nothing seems to be definitive but I wish you good luck. :D

Thanks fellas for the info

one more quick question : if and when I am asked to do another medical exam will I have to fill out the new forms (November 1 2012)

Hey Cknd,

In answer to your question, yes you will have to use the new medical forms and undergo the new medical procedure. Fingers crossed for you that you will not have to and they apply an extension and you have your COPR without the need for a medical examination.

Good luck :D

Many thanks R151NG5UN

I must really be out of it today .. what is COPR ?

"CONFIRMATION of PR". You're not PR until you have landed.

Many thank yous ... I should have known that :-[
