Hello everyone,

Do you guys know if someone just recently got an LMO in Alberta? How long did it take?
My boyfriend's finally found a job and they applied for an LMO. (NOC-7445 C)
We are hoping to get an answer in 3-4 weeks.... an in case of a positive LMO he plans to re-enter and apply for a work permit at a border. Will they issue a Work Permit right there?

Thank you for any advise:-)
Cheers

It takes about 4 to 6 weeks for the decision on the LMO. I'm assuming your bf is visa exempt. Yes, he can apply for the WP at the port of entry if he leaves and re-enters Canada. They will issue it there.

A bit late rjessome but still, THANK YOU! I hope he'll get it in 4 weeks:-).
If he goes to a border, what documents does he need? He is from europe. Does he need a canadian police clearance? passport pictures? Birth certificate?

Does he need to fill out an application for work permit at home at take it to the border or will they give one?

Hi,

LMO in Alberta is at least 6 weeks at this time. One of employment agents in Alberta said to me recently.

D

Just an update: 6 weeks since the employer sent LMO application, no answer yet. He got a hold of someone by fax and they phoned him and said that someone will soon be in touch with him. Hopefully good nwes, can't wait any longer!! So nervous!!

I'm thinking about the LMO all the time. Is it gonna be positive? negative?
I'm concerned about one thing... his employer put an advertisement into jobbank twice. The first time 14 days and the second time just 12. Besides the Jobbank, he didn't do any... like newspaper or so.
What do you guys think?

Update after 6 weeks waiting:
They called his employer and told him that they need to change the salary so he will have 2$ more and it would be average in this job. Also he is not able to get an LMO for 24 month but instead he might get 12 month.
I have no idea what's gonna happen now, since his employer has to contact now their management to confirm that they are still able to hire him and also still have the time to wait. It seems like this is never gonna end. man, frustrating. especially because tourist visa extension is running out and he has to leave at the latest middle of August. :'( >:(
If this doesn't work and he has to start from the beginning, how should a foreign worker under hard circumstances like that keep the self esteem, hope and energy???

Hi I just got my new LMO Today
My Employer HR had to call in to check the status
and cause it was submitted on the first week of april

just tell your employee to call in
