Recent Work Permit obtained - PR application query

Hi,

I reside in India and have recently obtained a closed work permit valid till 2025 through my employer. As part of the employer's policy my wife also has a open work permit.
We are yet to move to Canada, but as my immediate goal is to obtain a PR and ultimately citizenship, is their a way to apply for PR right away with the Work Permit in hand? Would the approved work permit help in any way, and if it would - then how?
Just to reiterate, I'm still in India and won't be moving to Canada until October-November 2022. It would be great if someone could help me with my query. Thanks.

Is it a LMIA exempt or LMIA? Are you eligible for Express Entry with at least 67 points with your ECA and IELTS? If so what is your CRS score? What province? What NOC? PR may not be possible or may take years for invitation if not eligible for EE and without knowing province.

Thanks for responding. It is LMIA exempt. I have never taken an IELTS exam, but I have completed my Masters in Management and have 15 years of working experience with International companies. My mode of education has always been in English. My CRS score is calculated to be 439 (I have assumed top row scores for IELTS for me and my spouse, who has a Canadian CPA certification), My NOC is 4163. My Work Permit was processed for Nova Scotia.
Is age an issue or a deciding factor? I'm 38 and my spouse is 37.

Any help and (or) information would be greatly appreciated.

You can’t claim Express Entry points on a LMIA exempt job until you have one year of Canadian experience. You need ECA for degree and IELTS to submit a profile. 439 will not get you an invitation right now as last draw was 540. Age is a factor as you lose points every year.

Look at Nova Scotia PNP programs and see if you are eligible. Since you are in a LMIA exempt job then you may not be eligible to apply until you have worked in Canada. Also being in a LMIA exempt NOC, your employer would not be a “designated employer“ by Nova Scotia as the point is for employers to show they could not hire in Canada. So read through NS PNP programs.

That's a shame. Better not get my hopes high then, there isn't a chance for me and my family of getting a PR. Thanks a lot, this really helped.

You need to research the Nova Scotia programs. There are several streams. EE is not an option right now until you can complete one year of Canadian experience. You should complete ECA and IELTS so you can submit a profile to Express Entry. If serious, learning French is an option to boost scores and be eligible for francophone programs.
