Hope someone can help me.

I will be able to send my PR for common law by end of october when i have full proof of the 12 months of cohabitation.

I am currently under a visitor extension that expires on beginning of october, so i will have to apply for another extension before i can send the PR application. (im applying outland)

I am confused as to what reason to put for purpose of my visit. My first extension was "explore more our relationship". And on letter i explained that i was planning to leave on october, i got 6 months granted no problem.

Now..i was planning to pay for the PR before hand and send that receipt with my extension application. However...since i still have to wait one more month to send my PR application, what is a valid reason to extend my visit? could it be "awaiting PR application"??? even if i havent send it yet.

If this is a valid reason and i can send the receipt as proof..can i still be single on the extended stay application? since i havent reach the 12 months of common law...does it makes sense to be single while awaiting for PR? or is there anything else i should do?

also..what do i say for how long i plan to stay? as far as i understand they only grant 6 months...but i will need a year, do i put one year?

Thank you so much for your time!!!

it is perfectly acceptable to say in the extension application that you want to stay in canada to legally become commonlaw with your partner and apply for PR. People have requested 12 mo. extensions and received it. Some people report being advised by CIC to apply for 18 months. They grant what they grant, so the longer you ask for, the more likely you'll get a longer extension. For people who can prove intentions of applying for pr (ie: receipts for fees provided), the requests are rarely denied. this doesn't mean it doesn't happen, just not very often.

you can say you intend to stay for the duration of the pr process, upon the completion of the 1 year cohabitation. Whether they approve it or not, is up to CIC. There are plenty of applicants who have successfully done this.

I would suggest asking for a lengthy stay. . .. as to avoid having to re-extend in the future.

I only extended mine until this September (I applied for it in December as I had originally planned to fly home then and return to Canada) . . . ended up not being able to work out and so now I have to pay for it again and I can see my PR coming in the distance haha.

Thanks for your answers!
Ok so i will apply at least for the year and see what happens.

Im still confused as if the reason can be "awaiting for PR application" even if i havent sent it yet or is it something like "being able to qualify for common law to apply for PR"....would this be a good reason or what would anyone suggest?
Should i explain in letter than in one month i will be able to send the PR application?

Do you suggest to send the receipt only for the first payment of $550, will this be enough or should i pay it all?
Thanks again!!!

I applied to extend my stay before my application went out. I applied to extend in December, didn't send my application for PR out until February. I simply stated we were applying for PR and that I wanted to stay with my husband while we went through the process. I had my husbands employer sign a letter stating my hubby worked full time there and his wage. Didn't have an issue! They granted me exactly what I asked for

How long did it take for them to grant it?

I received the extension in the mail the end of January, I believe the 28th. . .. My visitor extension was up January 6th, but once you apply for an extension you have implied status so you're allowed to be in Canada while they decide on your extension request.
