Reason for visitor extension changed

I hope someone can give me some suggestions.

I applied for a visitor extension with the reason of LMIA process before submitting my sponsorship application. After applying for the extension, the employer decided not to apply for LMIA for me.

Question:
Can I write an explanation letter saying that now the reason for me staying in Canada is because of sponsorship application, and I submit it through webform? Will this help me prevent from getting my extension refused due to the no longer valid reason (LMIA process)?
