Ready for visa - Passport sent to Ottawa - PGWP expires on April 30th.

Hello all,

I posted this query in AOR in December thread, but thought may be not very many people visit that thread, so decided to post it here.

This is a weird situation:

My PGWP is expiring on April 30th. I received Ready for Visa email yesterday, and sent my passport along with photos to Ottawa yesterday. They will be delivered on Monday. I don't know how long CPC Ottawa will take to send me back my passport and confirmation of PR. If they send me before 30th April (fingers crossed), am I off the hook in that case? Or do I need to do the landing in order to be considered a Permanent Resident?

Also, what if they take longer, say 3-4 weeks - will I need to apply for work permit extension before its expiry? Please advise. Thanks!

It is usually 7-10 business days. You'll get it back befor your PGWP expires.

Are you sure that receiving copr is enough?

when you get COPR you also get a visa on your passport. You're not a PR until you land but if you have a valid visa on your passport then your still on a valid status.

Where did you get this info? Could you post the link please?
That is a single entry visa only good for landing. I am not sure if that is a permit for staying in Canada.

My bad I got confused a bit. Yes OP will have to land before 30th or apply for BOWP and show the proof of it at the border.
