Hello board,
I am a Canadian who has lived several years overseas and a result I gave up my residency and have not been paying taxes in Canada.

I am now back in Canada and wish to sponsor my partner for permanent residency. They are asking for my CRA Notice of Assessment for the past 12 months, which I don't have.

Any advice on how to proceed? (Or do I need to re-declare residency, declare income for a year, and then apply once I've got that?)

The checklist states that if you do not have a Notice of Assessment there is other documentation you can provide including an explanation of why you have no NOA and how you will be able to support your family financially. This is written on the document checklist.

You do not need to do whatever you think you can do about "re-declaring" residency. If you have not been filing taxes but should have, you need to file taxes.

Thanks so much for your response. Need to investigate properly, my post was premature.
