I have read a few posts about this, but they are old posts. Would like to know the new rules:

My in-laws are visiting us in Canada; they plan to go to US after 6 months, live there for 1-2 months and then come back to live with us for another 6 months. Can this be possible?

try to make the stay a little bit longer in the US to qualify.

what new rules are you referring to ? Are your parents from a visa exempt country or in fact US passport holders ? Are they going via land border or by air ? Will they have return travel arrangements for the end of each 6 month period plus if not US passport holders will they be able to show the US they have onward travel ? Not enough info in your post really , anything is possible.

Assuming they are visa-exempt, they would still have to convince CBSA officer each time that they qualify to enter the country as visitors.

So maybe you could provide a bit mire information for any response to be more detailed.

I haven't experienced this yet myself, but from what the seniors here say, they will be reassessed by CBSA upon reentry, no guarantee that they will be granted another 6 months when they return back from the USA.
