Re-entry into Canada with temporal Residency Status

I’m currently on work permit with temporal residency status and working in Canada. I have been here for a year now. I applied for permanent residency, CIC has acknowledged receipt of my application but the decision has not yet been made.
Now I would like to visit my home country in December, 2017 for 3 weeks (for my marriage), given my current status here Canada will I be allowed re-entry into Canada after my visit, should I just wait for PR to be ready then go, What documentation do I need to have for this to work accordingly? Please I need your advice on this before I set wedding dates which is tentatively set to be in December 2017.

If you are from visa exempt countries, you can just come back with eTA
If you are from visa required countries, you will need valid and re-entry-able TRV if not already have have one
