Hi all,

2 years back my close relative who is a doctor (full time for over 15 yrs experience till today) applied and got PR for his full family (wife and 2 kids) but failed to come to Canada due to personal unavoidable reasons hence PR landing date got expired. He also sent an email to immigration explaining as why he can't come in detail too before expiration of landing date too.

Now he is divorced and have the custody of kids too so planning to apply for PR again with his 2 kids (both under 18). Will the immigration process be same as like before or the last one will have any impact on this too?

Thanks.

He may want to look into what it takes to practice medicine in Canada if that is his plan. It is a long and expensive process with no guarantees. Many immigrants are shocked when they arrive and figure out how hard it is going to be to practice medicine in Canada.

thanks canuck78 for the heads up. I am having that experience first hand as my wife is also an IMG (Internation medical graduate). No guarantees obviously plus we are in QC so without French even 100 times more harder to get into the system.

But my wife was a fresh graduate but the person has tons of years of experience so might be an express way I believe. Anyway I will ask to do the research to avoid disappointment.

Actually in some ways it is easier to enter as a new graduate. Not beneficial for a province to use resources to retrain someone who is 50 years old vs a 30 year old. I have heard of some established physicians that have been mislead by consultants and were shocked when they relocated to Canada. Also can often only retrain into certain specialties which can be very demoralizing for some longterm physicians. Best of luck to your wife! Medical education is much longer in north America than in many other countries.
