Your name might be similar to someone else's in Canada, and they ask for the check as a matter of routine. It could also be a random check, as a sort of system integrity check and you drew the short straw. Either way, it's Immigration, when it comes to dealing with them the best we can do is suck it up and deal, it's their statutory right to ask whatever they feel necessary to confirm we are not inadmissible to Canada as the law stands.

In all honesty i have no such desire to move there as iam well settled here in the uk but its only because of my wife she came here to the uk did not like it, hence i now have to try and see whether i will like it.At this stage its already a big turn off. anyhow i checked the processing times if i get the fingerprints done here in uk and send them to canada it will take more then 11weeks or maybe longer im told by the rcmp officer, only other solution is to go to canada and have the electronic prints done that takes shorter time. But there is another scenario my medical is going to expire next month.that again is going to cost me a fortune as well as the trip to get the fingerprints done, feel like telling my wife she has to try again back here in the uk.

Here in Canada there is an office recognized by the government to do fingerprinting for specific purposes like immigration. This office do the fingerprinting digitally and they are the ones who send the digital fingerprints electronically to RCMP to do the background checking and in a much faster processing time. . Most likely that there is a office in UK that is doing the digital fingerprinting but am not sure if RCMP will accept their work. Much better if the said UK office will be the one to send the digital fingerprints to RCMP electronically... Digital fingerprinting cuts processing time..

Digital prints from outside Canada are not accepted. Paper prints only.
