Hi Everyone. I got an RCMP request today. I have seen that if CIC requires fingerprint based RCMP criminal record checks it is clearly mentioned in the letter that people receive. The letter I got states the following:

Dear LahoriCEC,
This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the
review of your application, we require the following documents:
 UCI - LahoriCEC:
RCMP Criminal Record Check: Please provide a Canadian certified criminal record check for
yourself. Please check the CIC website (Obtaining Police Certificates) and refer to RCMP
certificates in Canada for details on obtaining a RCMP “Criminal Record Check”. You will find
the link below.

Please upload these documents to your MyCIC account by 2016/04/26.
Please note:
The above information/documents must be received within 60 days from the date of this
correspondence. If this deadline is not met, your application will be assessed based on the information
that was provided with your application and your application could be refused.
If the documents are not already in English or French, all documents must be accompanied by English or
French translations by certified translators. When original documents are requested, you must upload the
original documents to MyCIC. We do not accept copies signed by notaries.

Thank you for the interest you have shown in Canada.
Sincerely,

I went to Peel region Police station today and they gave me a Police Information Check that says that based on my name and date of birth a search of the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records, did not identify any records with name and date of birth of the applicant.

Is this good enough or do I need to get a fingerprint based RCMP?

Also, please only those people answer who actually have some knowledge or experience in this matter. A lot of people come here answering based on hearsay. Thanks alot.

I don't think it is, because this "name based" is routinely done as a part of your application by CIC. They probably need the fingerprinting.

I see you went to peel police. If you're going to get police check based on fingerprint then I would recommend "Commissionaries" on Dixie Rd in Mississauga. Go early, they open at 9:30 and I went there at 9:35 and was out within 15 mins. It's 40+ tax and you will get the results within a week.
