For those of you who need a RCMP Check, I just emailed and received a response from the RCMP and they are in excess of 120 days. If you are waiting for the record check dont hold your breath!

You can get it much more quickly if you use a service like Commissionaires.

We used Commissionaires. If I remember correctly, we received our results in a week.

Here's the link to their site: http://www.commissionaires.ca/national/en/services-personal/personal-police-clearances/

Note: We were not asked to provide an RCMP record check. However we chose to include one with our original application (plus police certificates for all of the US States my husband had lived in - in addition to FBI) because we couldn't provide a police certificate for the time my husband had spent in Kuwait and were trying to find every way we could to make up for this. :)

No we cannot use that, my husband is applying outland and lived in canada for 8 years. The criminal record check requires his fingerprints to be done in costa rica using the forms given when requested by immigration. They are then sent to immigration who then sends them to the RCMP in Ottawa. For this situation this is the only way it can be done.

That's too bad!!! 120 days is a very long wait...

I'm not so sure this is still a valid option. As recently as the fall of this year, RCMP put a stop to outside agencies doing criminal record checks. I am no sure if they got it sorted out yet and have been approved to start doing them again. I would confirm it with RCMP first.
Hope this helps....Sheila

It is a valid option there are 3 companies that do the digital printing for RCMP checks for CIC.
