I'm at 434 like you also and hoping for HCP. Any other suggestions for the 434 club?
Thanks for creating the thread for us in the 430-437 range in order to share strategies to improve CRS ;). I feel like we are in a "gray area", not knowing anymore if we will get direct ITA before our next "happy" birthday...

Learning (or Improving) French could be a way to get out of this "gray area", but it has to be a really intensive short-therm course (5 days, 2 hrs/day, for two months)... before reaching the B-day date. After that, getting those points could also help to compensate the 5 points loss.

Thanks for your advice! I hope it is true that they will soon start reissuing NOIs under HCP :)

I am at 434 and as I see it, at the moment it may be really difficult to get a direct ITA considering that the pool votes showed us that many people are at 438 :S
Even without looking at the poll, it is obvious that there are big pools on two scores between 435 and 440. I was guessing 435 and 438 (or 437) and still think that is the case. I am at 435 (and voted in your poll) and need a couple of big draws to clear those two hurdles.
I think it is something like this,
431 - 500
432 - 500
433 - 500
434 - 500
435 - 1000
436 - 500
437 - 500 or 1000
438 - 1000 or 500 (if above is 500, this is 1000 or vice versa)
439 - 500
440 - 500 to 1000

Is there any chance that 439 will be called out in the next draw?
My take is that it depends. if draw happens on the 23rd then the chance is about 50%. if draw delay to Thusday and Friday the chance will be lowered to close 0%.

Let s all hope the draw will come on 23rd. for the 439 folks including myself.

Actually it is much higher than that if it happens on Wed or Thur, more like 75% which is almost a sure shot considering where we are (ROH).
If it happens on Friday or later, with the IELTS result out, the chance would drop to 25%. I hope that is not the case, I want to see all 439s and even some 438s cleared in this draw.

Wise words. Can't agree more!

That's why we need to strategize in addition to hoping as the ROH is great but we need to do more!

How much can French help? is there a points grid for this?

Thanks
Hi,
Yes, you may increase your score by adding points for second official language.

Maximum points for each ability (reading, writing, speaking and listening):
  • 6 with a spouse or common-law partner (up to a combined maximum of 22 points)
  • 6 without a spouse or common-law partner (up to a combined maximum of 24 points)
CLB 5 is the minimun level to gain points (1 point/ability if you get CLB 5 or 6)

Also, by adding French as language, you may be chosen for Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (on March 26 they targeted French Speaking in HCP stream).

TEF has 4 tests, the same as IELTS:

Each CLB5 gives 1 point..
Each CLB7 gives 3 points.
Each CLB9 gives 6 points.

Also, if you get CLB7 in all 4 tests, you get a 30-point bonus, in addition to the test points.

So, for example, if you get CLB7 on all 4 tests, you'll have 3+3+3+3+30=42.

Do you know what test we need to take and how difficult is the test? I mean I am absolutely at Zero right now. but I have few friends who are french maybe I can learn from them and speed up the process?

Thanks
