Kool you have good qualifications and they are from renowned institutions. I believe ACCA or CA(Pak) member doesn't have to take any accounting course and they are are exempted from other levels of CA(CICA) but they have to appear in UFE.

They have to take some courses not all 17 think 3-4, but they need to appear in CKE, SOA, and uniform evaluation. (So, CKE in June/Sep, SOA June, and CKE in June min 3 years) but reward is high

But i remember i read on the CICA website that they might be granted exemption for CKE etc but they can not get exemption from UFE and that was for members.
And what if someone is starts CA then would he be able to get the training contract from lets say big4 or any other big organisation? because i think they must have to get experience from CATO.

Well, I know people in PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, and Grant Thornton ( not in big 4). For CA contracts these firms normally recruit from Canadian schools grades and school name matters a lot. Competition is too high, lots of students end up in to small offices mean single CA firms to complete audit hours.
But with Pak CA and auditing hours someone might be able to get into the firm . Entry level positions are too competitive i.e. KPMG last year recruitment GPA avg was 3.7 and 90% of recruits had min one co-op with Big 4 firm in Canada. Again, working hard esp on resume will help to get your foot in to accounting firm if its not big 4 little experience will help you to move to big 4 in some time. CICA also says it goes with provincial institute decision, it takes 18 months for CA's from bodies who have reciprocal agreement with Canadian CA to get practice licence. it says might be, but I never a Pakistani CA who got exemption from all 17 courses and CKE, ICAO says they might but normally don't award those.

Okey so you mean if someone is doing lets say Masters in accountancy from UOFT then his chances are bright that he might secure a position in one of the big four. But if the school is not of such a high rank then his chances are lesser to get in big4.
In short if you are not joining them from the route you mentioned above the chances are very remote?
and yeah any idea about industry? do they hire or the competition is same there as well?

Well, I might be in big 4 or large investment firm some time sooner rather than later :D InshAllah. I went for interviews with 3 of the big 4 and every time made it to last round but after that my luck dodged me, two examples

1) I was waiting for offer call regarding and infrastructure & project finance position, but in the last moment government was toppled and infrastructure financing decisions were not clear. The firm hold the position for 3-4 months. I got this call in April and was told if I am looking for a job at that time they will speak with me first because the director who interviewed me liked me, and the same firm recently called me for another opportunity. fings crossed.
2) In Oct I went for TP position in another big 4 firm, in last minute the partner changed his mind to recruit 1 person rather than 2. They choose a guy who was ranked first because he did a co-op term with the firm. But now firm thinks they need another person and the partner spoke with they guy who knows me and work with them to give me a six month contract and normally they don't ask you to leave after 6 months because they spend training time on their employees. This contract might start in Aug or Sep.

there are couple of other situations when things change dramatically at last minute, but am trying and I will be in there.

Industry is not bad, CGa can give you good job but you might need to spend some time in entry level position to gain experience.

You are going to Canada so why CPA? Why don't your husband go for either CGA or CA because getting Canadian qualification would surely help more than CPA.

CPA's are not that welcome in Canada, it depends on CPA State.

For global mobility CA (CICA) would also help check out their reciprocal membership with other bodies.

Lots of students can't find a CA training position.
