Friends, I am right now in the process of filling up the application for GCMS notes and have a quesiton.

1. In the second page where it says "Act & record selection", there is a box where it says "Select the file that you would like to receive and fill in the file number and/or location". I know that the file number is my CEC application # but what should be filled in location?

2. In the third page, it is asking me to attach documents. Do I really need to attach any docs?

3. Can I give a different email address than the one mentioned in the application?

1. If you have files numbers that begin with E or B and the form allows it, you can write both.
2. Location - this will be your visa office(the one processing/or which processed the specific application).
3. From this link, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563E.pdf , it seems if you have a mailing address in Canada, you are not required to provide proof. I recommend attaching a copy of your valid work/study permit to be on the safe side.

Thanks Senorita. What about the email address to deliver the electronic copy? I do not want to give my official email ID since it does not accept large files and there is a danger of the email sent by CIC with the documents bouncing back.

Or, can I apply for a physical copy so that it comes by mail. Also, does ordering a physical copy increases the time line of delivery compared to electronic copy?

You can give a different email address than the one in the application. I did that and it wasn't a problem. Yes, a physical file will take longer. If you need the notes sooner, it will be quicker electronically.

Also in other posts, it was mentioned that physical copy is not recommended..it seems CIC will send all scanned copies from your application package...which in turn might delay PR processing....

I may be wrong...but this is what I remember based on previous posts. So by email is the best.

is there any link where they said that requesting physical file can delay pr processing???

That shouldn't be a problem...they're mainly checking authenticity of the person based on name, DOB, AOR # etc.

thanx but I mean elsewhere outside the forum. I cant just believe it without any concrete evidence. immigration website or something will suffice.

I don't believe you will necessarily find that written somewhere but based on people's experiences, it takes longer. An officer has to go through it, redact any sensitive information, etc and then courier it. That takes time.

I know it can take longer to process but still dont unstand how it will affect pr processing time.

It's unlikely to delay processing. Even if it did, it would be a day at most while the papers were taken to work with.
