Greetings! I'm currently applying for a Temporary Resident Visa (Visitor) so I can visit a friend who lives in Canada for the duration of a week. I plan on visiting 2-3 months from now. However, I've come across a couple of questions I can't find the answer to anywhere in the official Canadian Immigration website, so I was hoping someone on the forums could help me out here! My questions are:

1. I'll be visiting a friend, but I don't have plans to be staying at their house (I plan on staying at a hostel, as they live with their mom, and hang out with them during the day). Should I still ask them to write me a letter of invitation to go with my application when I won't be staying under their roof? Is a letter of invitation mandatory for visiting purposes?
2. The TRV application has a "Funds for my stay (CAD)" section. Should I fill this including the funds I'll have *before* I buy my plane tickets or *after* I do so?
3. If I'm *currently undergoing* post-secondary education, should I answer "Yes" or "No" on the education question?

Thank you for your time!

They can invite you but their invitation letter won't help your application as they won't be supporting your visit in any way.

No, the invitation letter is not mandatory.

All available finances for your visit at the time of applying. And, don't buy tickets until you are issued a TRV

Thank you for your reply! The invitation letter under "Supporting Documents" had written "(required)" by its side on my application page, so that made me very confused.

Because you answered in the questionnaire somewhere that you will be supported by someone else in Canada. Edit your questionnaire answer so this can get removed.

Oh, I didn't notice the answer I gave meant financial support in Canada. Thank you a lot for the help and clarification!
