Questions regarding spouse sponsorship

Hello, I already certified all of my documents that are needed for family class spousal sponsorship, however I just realized the notary public never wrote down the "name of the original document". The lawyer whom I talked to said I can write the name of the original document by myself on the certified true copy.. Is this really okay for cic? I plan to give cic a call soon but I would like to have some answers with somebody who has already completed their spousal sponsorship.

My second question is for Sponsor questionnaire, IMM5540 number 5. "What is the highest level of education you have completed?" it says right beside it, College/University *Number or years completed*. I would like to know if they want me to write down 4 years of university, or total number of years of school I have completed.. from gradeschool to university?

My last concern is the 5 photos needed for my wife, Does she need to write down the date at the back of the 5 photos? On the Vietnamese sponsorship information guide, it doesn't say anything about writing a date on the back of the photo.. but some I read on some forums that you need a date or even a signature on the back of the photo.

Hi, my wife is from Vietnam too!

The notary thing, I'm not sure. I was a little concerned too because the translators wouldn't write what CIC instructed, word for word, rather they just used their own stamp with their name and job position on it. Their sworn affidavit, was not word for word like CIC instructed, it still had the same meaning, so I hope its not a big deal. Vietnamese are kinda like that, really stubborn and only want to do things their way.
For the education part, I read the instruction guide again, it would appear they only want just the # of years you spent in university.
As for the dates on the photos, our guides do not say anything about writing date/DOB, but you should do it just in case.

Hey mike, thanks for the fast reply! I'll have the dates stamped on the back of the photos so cic won't have any doubts about it. I was in Hanoi with my wife when we certified and translated everything. The notary public did everything as cic instructed, but only missing the original name of the document... I'm really careful with what I write on the documents because one mistake and cic returns everything..

When they translated, they wrote the name of the document.
But when they were certifying the photocopies, they didn't write the name of the document, they just simply put their own stamp on there, and on the translation of that photocopy, it translated the stamp as saying "Certfiied true copy". It's not exactly what CIC asked for, but the Vietnamese translators won't translate it any other way. Again hope its not a big deal, but I'll keep checking my GCMS notes every month to see if they're concerned about it and if they are, I'll get my wife to go to another translation service right away.

That's what I hate about vietnamese officials and people in government, especially at the So Tu Phap. They're inefficient, slow, rude, and have the gall to take a 1.5 hour break, like they really deserve it . I still have fond memories of finally getting my turn waiting in line at so Tu phap, marriage section. And when we finally got our turn, lots of other couples just crammed in front of us trying to give extra documents. Good thing I don't have to do that ever again.
