Hello there! I wonder if anyone could tell me for an online visitor application, will I need to sign on each form, such as IMM5257, and scan to save as PDF then upload. Or A FINALl electronical signature will do? Not necessary to sign on each form.

Hi,

I applied online recently. I did not sign the general application form IMM5257. But for all other documents (all of them were PDF files) I was using an option of an electronic sign in pdf documents http://help.adobe.com/en_US/reader/using/WS82af097c4236e2eb3543853d130e391c674-8000.html
And the only document which I sign by hand and scan after was IMM5707 (Family information), because it was protected from e-signing.

Based on the link below, online applications shouldn't be printed out and signed:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=740&t=23

"If you are applying online, do not print out your application form to sign it.

After you upload your application form and supporting documents, you’ll be prompted to type your name in when you want to pay and submit your application. This is your electronic signature.

That was the phrase which confused me. It says "your application form" not "forms". So I assumed it applies only to the main IMM5257 form. But I wasn't sure what to do with Family information form. It has different sections for signature and some of them should be signed only if an applicant doesn't have spouse/children/brother's and sister's. I wasn't sure if it will be correct not to sign that form (I don't have children), that s why I printed, signed and the scanned it. Still don't know, what was the right thing to do, but it didn't make any harm for my application.

I hear you. That form threw me off too. But reading from others' experiences, it seems that you can submit all the forms including the Family information form without signing and scanning. If there's no harm in scanning a signed form, then I guess one can do that as well. It seems that CIC still needs to update their forms to make them more compatible to online applications.

Right, no need to print & sign by hand. Electronically to be signed at the end when they ask if all the info you submitted is correct. Supported documents or the attested ones should be signed for sure. Only the application forms cic provides to fill out can escape the signing process.

Thank you guys)))
i was looking for these answers above.
i am going to apply for TRV visa for my wife and i was wondering whether to print it out or no?
so final answer is i dont need to print them out. right?
Thanks)))

Hi guys another question)))
on photo requirement on the back of the photo name and date of birth should be written. So when applying online this is will be still valid, like i must scan front and back of the photo as well? im confusing in this.

This was a requirement only for paper application. You don't need to do that for online version. Just scan your photo (front) and upload it to the file. FYI, most of the photo shops offers a service of a digital photo - they take your picture and instead of printing it (or both) they save it onto your drive. It might be more convenient due to the specific requirements of the photo for uploading.

Yes knowing how notorious Canadian embassy is when you dont follow simple instructions, it can be worrying for them to say "dont sign application forms". They could have just said Do not sign ALL the forms and then we are sure of what to do.

u can not submit IMM5257 scanned. u have to validate it and save then upload the one with bar codes. when u submit all the documents u will b asked to just type ur name. IMM5257 is used to generate the applicants name . scanned copy can mess this up in online submission.

HI Everyone,

If we are submitting online,
so while filling "Use of Family member representative (5713E)", Do all family member need to print, sign with pen and scan upload.
Or this form does not need any signing, it will be signed while paying online.

Does anybody have information about this? I am confronted with the same question.

Print, sign, scan, upload.

So can we print, sign and upload the family information form?

I know they allow you to fill it out online, but how do we sign that form and how do we fill out the names in our native language (which is a requirement)?
