When we get to the consulate, do we need to register/sign in so that they know we are there waiting? Some people have said that they get called out from Tim Horton's, what is the significance of that? Do they register first then get called up? Just want to finalize our information before landing in a little over a week :)

the consulate officially opens at 8. but they actually start letting people in at 7:30. if you get there before 7:30, ask any guard and they will tell you to wait in tim horton's. then the consulate guard will come down and ask everyone at tim horton's who is there for the canadian consulate, and you follow him (and that forms the line). so sit or stand as close to the doors as possible.

if you get there after 7:30, I think you just go straight the consulate.

Thanks eletyl! We've booked a hotel in Buffalo to stay over night and get there early in the morning. I guess we'll aim to get there around 7 and see ho that works.

Make sure you go on either a Tuesday or Thursday. These are the only two days of the week when this service is offered.
