Questions Regarding How Long they keep passport

Hello I am from Bangladesh, I applied for a study permit to study at University of Manitoba for the fall semester [CSE] . Orientation is on 1st September.I submitted paper application through VFS Dhaka Office on April 28th, on May 19th I got an email from immigration that they have scheduled an interview for me on June 12th, which I attended and later got an email on June 21st to submit my original passport so on 23rd I did so as requested.The passport arrived to the Canadian Embassy in Singapore on 28th June and yet till now I have not received any emails or any such information regarding my study permit.
Its been well over a month, I was planning on booking my flight,buying few essential things and well finalize a few things before I leave. But I cannot do anything as I am not sure if my permit will get approved. I feel there is a very high chance for a refusal. What should I do now ?
P.S I submitted my emedical with my application so they did not ask for it

You are supposed to go to VFS and ask them for your passport. Chances are it has already arrived at the VFS, Bangladesh. If they needed to reject you application, they wouldn't have asked you for the Passport after the Interview. They would only ask for the original passport if they need to do something with it, i.e. stamp it with a Visa. If I were you, I would:-

First contact VFS in person and ask them about my passport. Talk to them, pester them, go to their office physically. Don't call them, go there.

Secondly, if they cannot help you, use the online webform in the CIC website and send them an email regarding your query.

Bro The VFS tracking app shows my passport is being processed at the canadian office in singapore

Then you can send them an email through the webform on CIC. This is because, they have already passed the allotted 9 weeks time for your application. You have the right to get the results now. Send them the email through CIC website and wait.

In the meantime, go to VFS. Sometimes they don't update the status on-line and have the passport handy. It won't hurt your application to find out now as most probably you have got the visa. Other members would also comment the same here.

you should contact the vfs, it shouldnt take that long once you submit your passport. Maybe 2 or 3 days max
