Hi all,

I have the below questions regarding FSW application forms and requirements:

1. "Generic Application Form for Canada - IMM0008", http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf
Question 3: How many family members, including you, are in this application (see instruction guide)?

Instuction guide: Indicate the total number of family members included in your application. This includes yourself and any family members, regardless of whether they intend to accompany you to Canada or not.

My situation is, I have three family members, my spouse, my child born in Canada, and I. I'm coufused with the instruction. Sould I fill it with 2 or 3? My child has Canadian passport cause he was born in Canada, so he is not included in this applicatin. But I'm not sure.

2. "Document Check List - IMM5612E", http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5612E.pdf
Question 13, Education/Training/Qualifications.

For you, your accompanying spouse or common-law partner:
• Post-secondary education documents: vocational or technical certificates or diplomas;
• College or university documents: certification of completion and/or the graduation degree, diploma, or certificate issued by the college or university and the evaluation committee;
• Trade/Apprenticeship documents: certificate and evidence of apprenticeship;
• Transcripts: original transcripts for all successfully completed studies (diplomas, certificates, degrees), if available.
• Professional qualifications certificates: professional qualifications certificates should be submitted if available (e.g., Engineer, Computer Programmer, Accountant, Economist, Translator/Interpreter, Architect, etc.);
• Proof of previous study in Canada (if applicable): copies of study permits issued to you and/or your accompanying spouse or common-law and any certificates/diplomas or degrees awarded.
• You must include evidence of both the total number of years of education along with evidence that the program(s) were completed.

There is no requirements to provide secondary education documents (middle school and high school).

But In the instruction guide, there are some comments regarding education:

Factor 1: Education
(maximum of 25 points)
Points are awarded for earned educational credentials as well as the number of years of full‑time studies or full‑time equivalent studies. To be awarded points, you must meet both stated criteria. Failure to provide documentation that indicates the completion of the program of study AND the total number of years of the education, may affect the number of points you receive for Education.

Full‑time studies: This includes both secondary and post secondary education of at least 15 hours of instruction per week during the academic year. This includes any period of workplace training that forms part of the course.

I have all the related post-secondary education certificates(degrees) and transcripts included in the package.
But I can't find my secondary diplomas (middle school and high school)and transcripts, so they are not included in the package.
Is this OK?

Thank you very much!

01. - I think, Instruction guide clearly states that every member needed to be included whether they accompany u or not.
02. - Theoretically OK, but u never know the Visa Officers!! and there's a phrase stating "if available", so .... best of luck!!

Hi mute_man, Thank you for the reply.
For the 1st question, the confusing issue is my child doesn't need to apply for PR, and we won't include him in this application. Moreover the question itself is little bit of ambigurous, especially the words "in this application".

How many family members, including you, are in this application (see instruction guide)?

Hi smallkick, as mute_man said, I think you do need to include your son in your application, whether or not they accompany you. And I'm thinking about IMM5406E, where you have to list your spouse and all your children. I think that's what 'included in your application' means, because you write their names on the IMM5406E form, and they're your family members. Certainly the IMM5406E form is part of the application :D Good luck with your applications.

At the top of the application it says don't include family members who are already Permanent Residents or Canadian citizens. Though you will have to show settlement funds for a family of 3.

Hi asbereth, PMM. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I tried 3, and didn't fill my son's information in DEPENDANT(s) section on IMM0008 form, because there are some comments on the form:

"You must provide the following details about each of your family members, whether they will be accompanying you to Canada or not. You must include your spouse or common-law partner,
if applicable, and all of your dependent children, and those of your spouse or common-law partner, who are not already permanent residents or citizens of Canada."

After completed it, and then I validated the form, I got an error as follows:

The number of clients on the application does not match how many family
members, including you, that you indicated in question 3 of the Application
Details section.

You have indicated 3 family members, including you, are to be included in this
application. Please enter personal information for all clients, including you.

So here the family members shouldn't include those that are already Canada PRs or citizens.

So the answer should be 2.

Thank you all very much for the inputs.

I want to be clear on 3. of Application Details in Generic Application Form For Canada.

How many family members, including you, are in this application (see instruction guide)?

I understand that I have to include here my children and spouse, but what about my parents and siblings?
