My fiance is a Canadian citizen and I am an American citizen. We have been together for 6 years and would like to marry and then live together in Canada. She has a high enough income to support the two of us in Canada so we would prefer for me to come up there and live together during the process. Is this possible? What would be the best way to go about this and how long would the process take? I would like to be able to work as soon as possible. Would bringing my car and a couple of computers complicate things for me crossing the border; what should we say when crossing the border? Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post; any help would be greatly appreciated.

no income is required

time frame as per cic website is 11 mths

to work u need to be a pr or have an owp

So that means 11 months before I will be able to work? Will I be able to stay in Canada for that length of time while we are waiting?

11 months is avg

Yes as an American you can come and VISIT for 6 months at a time your spouse can also extend your visit once you are in yor 5th mth of visiting, keep in mind the border agent may refuse u if they believe that you wont be visiting
