Hello everyone - I am currently preparing for sponsoring my son for PR in Canada.

Situation:
  • I am Canadian PR, living in BC
  • My son is currently living in China and was listed in my original Canadian PR application as 'non-accompanying child'
  • My son is 10 years old now
Questions:
  • My understanding is that I need to complete the application to be a 'sponsor' and my son needs to be a 'principal application' to file the PR application online. Given the fact that I will be representing him in the whole application (he is only 10 years old). Do we will need to complete the 'Use of Representative' form?
  • If the 'Use of Representative' form is needed, how does my son sign the declaration section of the form? The guide (https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp#country) here indicates that 'If the principal applicant is a minor child (under 18 years old) their parent or legal guardian must sign the forms, and consent and declaration on their behalf. ' As such, should I, as the parent, sign the declaration section on my son's behalf directly? Only sign with my name only, or in a format like 'My Name (Father), on behalf of My Son's Name (Son)' in the signature space of the section?
  • What does 'electronically sign' mean? Does that mean we just type in the name in the editable pdf form?
  • Lastly, per the same 'If the principal applicant is a minor child (under 18 years old) their parent or legal guardian must sign the forms, and consent and declaration on their behalf.' Does this mean that I need to sign my son's entire PR online application too, when the whole application is ready for submission?
Thank you!!
