As an American, I just married a Canadian citizen. The plan is for me to apply for outland PR as soon as the marriage certificate arrives. I'll be visiting her in Canada as much as I can while the PR application is being processed, and plan of keeping my US permanent residence.
When I cross the border, I know I need documentation to prove my ties to the US and that I do not play to stay in Canada beyond what is allowed. My question is for two documents: a letter from my US employer (I work remote) as well as a what documentation is needed from a friend who is letting me live at his place.
1. Letter from employer - what should the letter say? I was planning on having the letter, on company stationary, say that I am employed as a US employee and need to be onsite as needed in the US.
2. Letter from friend who is letting me stay with him - can a letter work? There isn't a lease or rental agreement, as there's no rental amount. What should the letter say?
I have other documentation (pay stubs, bills, insurance cards, etc.) but as a border officer said, the two above would work the best. I just want to make sure I have those two squared away good.
Any advice would be tremendously helpful. Getting a little anxious over all of this.
