Questions about translation of documents and interpreter at the relationship interview

My partner is scheduled to have an interview at the Embassy of Canada in Buenos Aires on March 19 and was requested to bring a new PCC (Certificado de Antecedentes) and his driving record (Hoja de Vida del Conductor) from Chile. It does not say that he needs to have these translated into English. Should we just assume that this is necessary and go ahead and get the translations done?

Although he put down on his application that he does not need an interpreter, will they still ask him if he needs one before the interview starts? I was reading from some others here that it might not be a bad idea to get one in order to buy more time to think of answers.

Not sure about the interpreter, but I'm sure you'd agree with me it's not worth taking the risk of anything that may cause him to score "negative points" during the interview, so if they are expecting him to bring English translations of the documents and he doesn't, that would not be good. Definitely better to play it on the safe side and get the translations done. Even if not required it will make him seem better prepared. Good luck with your interview!

Thanks for your reply, but my partner emailed the embassy and they said that ONLY the originals are required, so one less thing to worry about. I was thinking that they probably wouldn't reply to our email about information, but they answered within one hour of sending out the email. I am really liking this Embassy in Buenos Aires already ... such a departure from the Mexico City Visa Office which took forever to do anything and gave out no information and that we have had to deal with for the last 9 months!

Wow, that's surprising. So far I've sent two webforms to the embassy in Bogota, my wife sent an email to them, and they never replied, never. I don't know why they've made Mexico take so many different countries for the processing of applications, but I guess they had their reasons.

I was so surprised that they 1) answered 2) answered within an hour of sending out the email. I told my partner that it is highly likely that they will even respond. And then suddenly he said he got 2 emails ... one for the confirmation of receipt of the email and then a response to the email. I'm just not used to them being efficient after dealing with Mexico for so many months and expecting no response in communication and in them actually doing something. If we pass the interview, I'm going to be so sad again if they send our app back there!

I think it's partly because they are a very quiet embassy! It is small and there just doesn't seem to be a lot going on! I wish our application could get processed there from start to finish lol!
