Hi,
I am an international student in BC, currently taking a gap semester because I withdrew myself from my previous program after the last Spring semester, to join another program that starts in coming January. My study permit is valid until 2022 but I read on the IRCC website that study breaks cannot be more than 150 days on study permit, and that I need to apply for a change in status (eg. visitor) to extend my stay here until my break ends. So I applied for a visitor visa about 20 days ago. The processing time est. says 6 days but I have not had any updates since I submitted it 20 days ago. So here are my questions.

1. My break exceeded 150 days after I submitted the visitor visa application. Would I have any problems because of that?
2. I sent the web form on my application status and basically received no answer. Any advice on what to do?
3. In the case that my visitor visa application does not go through until I start school in January, would that leave me with any issues with my study permit or my record for the future?

Thanks a lot in advance.

1. Your study permit will be invalidated once you withdrew from classes. Your study permit will be further invalidated once you change status to a visitor.
2. You can only wait. These take a few weeks or more to process.
3. You need a new study permit.
