My wife and I are Canadian Permanent Residents since 2023. We are moving to Canada soon and both of us are RO compliant (three years left). Our daughter was born in the U.S. after we became PRs. We are preparing her inland permanent residence sponsorship application as soon within the first month of settling in Canada and we have a few questions that we kindly request clarification and confirmation:
1. Police certificate: our daughter is only two years old. As she is < 18 y/o, we don't need to submit her U.S. police certificate. Please correct me if I am wrong. IRCC website states:
2. As per IRCC guidelines for fees, RPRF fees not applicable for sponsorship of a dependent child alone. Am I correct?
3. Aside from the CAD $175 sponsorship fee, CAD $85 biometrics fee, and the medical exam, are there any other fees we should expect or know about?
4. Can our daughter temporarily travel to the U.S. and return to Canada (e.g., for medical visits or short family trips) while her inland PR application is in process, or would IRCC view this as abandonment of the sponsorship application? Do we need to inform IRCC via a web form that we are only taking short trips?
5. My wife and I lost our CoPRs; we usually only needed to show our PR cards at the border and were never asked for our CoPRs. Should we first apply for a Verification of Status (VOS) document before submitting the sponsorship application, or will scanned copies of our PR cards be sufficient for proof of status?
6. Lastly, my understanding is that both parents of the dependent child must sign an undertaking to support the child. Is this fulfilled entirely through the Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking (IMM 1344) form, or is there any additional official affidavit or separate documentation required for this purpose?
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions.
